GISAGARA- Nyanza Sector officials have toured the neighboring Nyamagabe District to study how a local electricity project in Musange Sector was installed.
The delegation was composed of Nyanza Sector staff, teachers and health centre employees. After the visit, Jean Bosco Uwimana, the Sector Executive Secretary, said that much effort will be put in setting up a micro electricity generating plant.
“We have learnt that the project does not require a lot, we have many water sources which we can put to use and the money needed can be mobilised from within the community, “said Uwimana.
John Semacumu, the head of Nyanza Health Center, said the lack of electricity poses a big challenge to the operations of the center, noting that the planned local electricity project will go a long way in solving their energy problems.
The Musange electricity project uses water from Gisuma River; it supplies power to 80 homes, and nearby health centres and schools.
