Kigali will on October 14 host a thrilling Chinese culture and art performance by celebrated Chinese musicians, martial arts experts, movie actors and acrobats.
The event which is linked to China’s 60th anniversary celebrations will be sponsored by the Chinese language teaching institute – Confucius Institute based at the Kigali Institute of Education (CIKIE).
Prof. Hou Wanchun, CIKIE deputy director said the aim of the event is to promote Chinese culture as well as China’s Confucius Institute in Rwanda and Africa.
“The main purpose is to promote Chinese culture – to let more ordinary Rwandans understand Chinese culture better and, to enhance cultural exchanges between our two countries,” Wanchun said in an interview with The New Times on Thursday.
In addition to Rwanda, the entertainers will also perform in Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
CIKIE is a non-profit institution that was officially launched mid this year, before it formally started last year, a pact establishing it was signed between KIE and China’s Chongqing Normal University (CNU).
