LOCAL football fans are divided over what many refer to be the biggest transfer of the off-season –Jimmy Gatete (pic) joining minnows AS Kigali.

Although the Amavubi striker is yet to finalise his move, fans have questioned the move.

Patrick Kwizera, a taxi driver and Rayon Sport fanatic thinks it is a big step back for the former Blues captain.
“This move does not make sense to me.

He is not going to have any impact on AS Kigali,” Kwizera said adding that if no big club is interested in him, he should retire.

Jean Claude Musafiri, a hotel receptionist and a staunch APR fan also failed to make sense of the move.

“Gatete is a proven goal scorer and I would totally support my club if they decided to bring him back to the club instead of relying on Bogotá and Abbas Rassou,” he said.
“APR could make him sign a performance contract where his pay is based on how well he performs.”

But Eric Ndayambaje, a teller with BCR and a Kiyovu fan thinks Gatete, who parted ways with Rayon after failing to agree on his monthly wages joined AS Kigali to steer the club into the top four.

Gatete, one of Rwanda’s finest strikers ever is said to have joined AS Kigali last Saturday.
