Alpha in trouble again

Rwanda’s only remaining representative in the Tusker Project Fame (TPF) music academy, will spend the second week in a row facing the risk of eviction after making the probation list on Sunday’s show dubbed the East Africa Hit Parade.

The determined songster, who performed a rendition of Nairobi-based Burundian Kidumu’s ‘Shamba’ passionately and with a measured level of voice control, found himself in trouble again as the race for the Ksh5million (approximant to Rfw40m) jackpot intensifies.

Rwanda’s contestant was joined by Uganda’s Caroline who performed a song by Tanzania’s Jaydee, Kenya’s Nganga who surprised everyone with his rendition of José Chameleon’s ‘Dorotia’ and Kenya’s Debarl who goes on record for the worst performance ever in the third season of the academy with Nameless’ Deadly.

The judges praised Alpha for his brilliant baritone and his easy reach for the high register of notes and assured him that he was due to produce hits in his musical life outside the house.

However, his nomination is bound to be one of the decisions that have broken the weeklong truce between the faculty and the judges’ panel over wrong decision making in drawing the list of probation.

The East Africa hit parade was a celebration of the best of music from the region which saw many contestants performing songs from other countries even though they did not understand the languages of the particular song.

Uganda’s duo, Leah and Maureen, and Kenya’s Patricia remain untouchable, thus giving them the task of saving one contestant on Saturday’s eviction.

Kenya’s Nganga will most likely be saved by the fans unless Debarl pulls out a new one from his hat of tricks.

The faculty vote will be determined by Debarl’s and Alpha’s performance on Saturday, but if Caroline is not saved by the faculty she will be most certainly saved by the contingent of fellow girls for the second time.

My bet is that a boy is going home next Saturday. Debarl faces a huge risk of a sensational eviction for all his talent if he does not improve his performance hence give the faculty a reason to save him. Alpha best bet again will be a faculty vote in his favour.
