Drama ensued yesterday in Rubavu district at Umuganda stadium after the court, which had convened decided to push the verdict of Jean Damascene Manizabayo to September 24.

Manizabayo was arrested last month over the murder of three children and the adjournment of the verdict did not go down well with the residents who accused court of delaying the judicial process.

Two of the murdered children; Alain Bizimungu 3, and Viviane Tumukunde 16, belonged to Rajab Bizimungu, the head-coach of Etincelles Fc, while the third, only identified as Cynthia, aged 6, was a daughter of a family friend.

Nyaruguru contributes to One Dollar

Over Rwf 2.1 million has been collected from Nyaruguru district in the Southern Province as a contribution to the One Dollar Campaign.

An official from the district said that the money was collected from all the sectors in the district, but added that there was additional money that was collected and not channeled through the district.

Residents close SACCO

Members of the Credit and Savings Cooperative in Kibungo sector of  Ngoma district closed the cooperative after it incurred losses.

The closure came after many members raised issues of not gaining from the cooperative, saying that some were not even withdrawing their money.

The members said that the cooperative has lost over Rwf 18 million.

NUR students visit REMA

Students from the National University of Rwanda majoring in economics visited Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) to learn about issues concerning the current weather in Rwanda.

They were briefed on causes of the current drought which has led to hunger in some areas of the country.

The students also wanted to know the strategic plans for the drought if it persists.
