Seeds of reconciliation

Come sit here with us, we have things to sayand then perhaps, you have things to say and doWe will say these things in a clear wayover louder voices that speak past you at the same timeLouder voices hope as we do to find their way into the soft spot that is your heart,

Come sit here with us, we have things to say
and then perhaps, you have things to say and do
We will say these things in a clear way
over louder voices that speak past you at the same time
Louder voices hope as we do to find their way into the soft spot that is your heart, the place where you waver and feel weak
because you don’t sit there often enough
Our voices will tell a story
parts of which you know
some you might not want to know
pieces that will restore you
to a sense of what is and who you are
so these other voices can run off
not rest heavily on your shoulders
or ease into your heart
Our voices will sing the story, whisper it,
breathe it into your bones...
You were born in the summer
into softness and heat
born weeping and into weeping
You were born into a place
so many others have called home
call home, will call home
All of them called to be here
from the stars, out of the earth
from water, through air
at different times
but called to be here
to be with one another for a short time
to exist with all that already was
and to leave it as a place of welcome
for others, to be fully who they are,
while they are here
To see each other, eye to eye
to breathe each other’s breath
to stand then to lie down together
on the earth.
