With money there will never be happiness

A bull will always be a bull, whether the herd is starving due to famine or not; no one comes up to lecture it about finding alternative sources.  It continues its usual “home” administrative role without feeling intimidated.

Down to the subject of debate, let me walk you down memory lane to that day when you stood at the altar promising a soon to be life partner that you will stand by them through thick and thin. A couple of years later, what happens to those vows?

No level-headed man is supposed to feel jealous or insecure if their wife earns better, unless they are nursing a stupid ego. They are supposed to be thankful and supportive, especially going by the fact that in some homes, men are still the sole-breadwinners and their women are just plain house wives.

However, housewife or CEO of some billion dollar company, a woman should give her man respect even when he is not at the same level with her. Those who expect a humble brother to worry himself to death because he earns less compared to his significant other are wasting their time.

Only a daft person would fail to understand that times have changed, the world economy generally is more like murky waters, and anyone can get sacked or laid off anytime regardless of their sex.  So, should I lose my job, I expect my wife to take over. However, I am not going to sit around and worry about how it looks or what people will say.

Why is it only a concern when it’s a man earning less and not the woman?  Isn’t this kind of attitude a hindrance to women emancipation efforts? Doesn’t it undermine the ability of women to support their family’s singlehandedly also?

A man earning less than their partner should not mind about the fact that his peers may ridicule him, as long as he is tirelessly doing his part, which is supporting his family in other ways.  They will eventually notice that they are just an idle lot.
