The national army of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reported that over 500 FDLR combatants have been killed or captured in the 45 days since Operations Kimia II was launched.

MPs participate in Umuganda

Over the weekend several Members of Parliament, participated in Umuganda in Karongi district.

After the communal work, the lawmakers encouraged the residents to always work hand in hand with the government in all development programmes.

The residents expressed gratitude towards the parliamentarians’ visit and promised to work towards achieving the country’s set development goals.

Residents taught on family planning

Karongi District officials in conjunction with religious groups addressed residents of Rubengera Sector them on the importance of family planning on HIV/AIDS.

Rubavu gears up for 2010

Officials from Rubavu district over the weekend sensitized the residents on their role in the forthcoming presidential elections.

The officials said that they will continue to educate the residents in all the villages in the district so that by 2010 the residents have the idea about the elections.
