August is usually a month for weddings; not a single weekend will pass before you see weddings taking place in churches. Last Friday, a daughter of my former boss married and I was invited.

This wedding is one of those that everything is done in one location. The garden weddings are on the increase; I must confess that I was struck by the colours, immediately I set my eyes on the theme of the wedding upon my arrival at the venue; the colours were cobalt blue and yellow.

Cobalt blue is back with a bang. If you have been reading fashion magazines or went shopping recently, you must have noticed this gorgeous hue in nearly every magazine page and on the store front of many clothing shops. From dresses and skinny pants to shoes and handbags, cobalt blue is everywhere this season! From the Duchess of Cambridge to celebrities in Hollywood, cobalt blue is a colour to reckon with, this season.

Some people confuse cobalt blue and purple, but the truth is if you do not know the difference you might be easily fooled. There are a few pieces that can be found in this colour:

Dresses

Cobalt blue can be easy to wear, at the same time difficult. A full dress can be matched with colours like yellow, nude and even red. When attending a non- formal function, brighter shade of yellow or aqua combines very well and pair your dress with black heels or gray suede wedges.

For an office look; a cobalt blue dress can be smothered down by a black boyfriend jacket, a pair of black heals and a black leather hand bag to give you that professional look.

Catherine Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge wore her cobalt blue dress in style by toning it down with a little black blazer, a black fascinator, black heels and a shiny black clutch. She looked every inch royalty.

Blouses

Silk cobalt blouses look eclectic and sensational. For an evening out, this blouse will make you stand out in a crowd if paired with white cotton trousers or short linen skirt. Pairing this ensemble with red or nude heels and gold clutch will give you the sexy appeal.

Cobalt blouse can also be worn for formal functions. If you are going to the office, pair your blouse with black pants to tone down the colour. Accessories should be minimal when going to the office; depending with the style of the blouse, a pearl necklace will speak a lot about you.

A perfect pair of heels and a good handbag will speak volumes on how serious you take your looks, even when going to the office.

Pants

Kim Kardashian was seen in cobalt blue jean pants and the style was seen everywhere almost immediately. For a weekend out, cobalt blue jeans paired with a yellow or red top with make you stand out in a crowd, for daring to wear those colours mixed together. Unless you are Kardashian type who loves wearing heels all the time; flat sandals will give you a relaxed look during the weekend.
