Why do we love boots so much? They can have a rugged country look or a sleek urban feel. On chilly days they make dresses and skirts wearable. They also give polish to jeans and add a down to earth feel to more delicate pieces. “Boots increase the versatility of your clothes, and every woman should have a pair or two,” says Keryon Wajunzi of Flash Models. She goes on to share the following tips on how to make them work for you.
Tall boots are perfect during rainy days. They allow you to get wear your lighter dresses and skirts. Put them back in your closet when the temperatures start to rise, because they will look out of place in hot weather.
When wearing a fuller skirt, it’s more refined for your hem to fall just over the top of your boot. With a fitted shape, allow a few inches between your hem and your boot.
Heavy heels complement long skirts and dresses. Go chunky to offset longer lengths. But don’t put a beat-up boot with your tiered skirt. Save your rough and tumble footwear for jeans.
Wear ankle boots with pants. They slip easily under jeans or dress pants and don’t feel restrictive around your legs. When buying, pick a pair that’s fitted around your leg but not so tight that your skin bulges out from the top. There shouldn’t be more than a half inch of space between your leg and your boot.
Tuck in skinny jeans. Wear jeans inside boots for a glamorous feel, but this really works best on the skinny ladies among us.
Lastly, go Ultramodern: For an ultramodern edge, try an ankle boot, or booties.
