I was with my boyfriend for about 10 months and then I lost someone real close to me. I wasn’t myself for months. I was edging towards depression. My boyfriend was understanding for about a couple of weeks then he decided I was stressing him out with my mood swings and everything I was going through.
I was even more sad when he left me because of this. Here I was dealing with a big loss in life and he decided not to stand by me. This is a man who claimed to want to marry me one day. I accepted it and moved on. It’s been 3 months now and last month, he decided it would be a good idea to contact me and tells me he regrets breaking up with me and wants to get back together.
Honestly, I do miss him and would consider getting back with him, but this is a man who couldn’t even deal with a big crisis in my life, how will he deal with the others in our life together? Will he always leave? I don’t know what to do.
I don’t want to blame him because maybe men aren’t built to take emotional stress because if it had been vice-versa, I would have looked like a horrible woman for leaving him at a time like that. Anyway help figure out what to do, if it’s a guy thing, I can accept it and move on. And if it’s not, then I hate to say it but he’s a weak man.
First of all, I want to take this opportunity to commiserate with you. It’s extremely hard to lose someone close to you and I wish you all the best as you move forward in your life. You are one hundred percent correct to call your ex-boyfriend a ‘weak man’.
I cannot fathom why he would leave you in such a poor frame of mind. I mean, even if he was merely your ‘friend’, it would seem quite heartless to leave you high and dry. Obviously, he didn’t care enough about you to remain and give you strength and now he is returning simply because the dust has settled. Men’s natural reaction to tragedy is to be a pillar of strength. So, when a guy refuses to be that, you have to question just how much he liked the woman in question. In your case, I can only say this; good riddance to bad rubbish
