Residents residing around National Parks whose property was damaged by stray animals will be compensated soon.This was revealed yesterday by RDB-Tourism boss ,Chantal Rugamba, during a visit to Virunga National Park accompanedby the Ian Redmond.

The Ambassador for the UN Year of the Gorilla 2009.  
The new developments will be part of a bill being prepared which will set up mechanisms that will guide the compensation exercise.

Religious leaders visit returnees

Leaders of several   religious groups on Wednesday visited repatriated refugees from Tanzania living in Rweru in Bugesera district in the Eastern Province.

The religious leaders donated food stuffs to the returnees who have been living in tents for the past eight months.

According to the team leader, John Mugisha the visit was aimed at supporting the returnees.

Conference on knowledge based economy

The Rwanda Development Board in conjunction with Kigali Institute of Management (KIM) is organizing a 2-day conference of September on developing human resource for the home knowledge based economy.

According to Benjamin Akinyemi, KIM’s rector, the conference will be a testimony of Rwanda’s commitment to boost the government’s effort of transforming the nation into a knowledge-based society by the year 2020.

RDB to build schools

Officials of tourism and wild life from Rwanda development board yesterday met the residents of Kinigi who live around the forest to help them improve their standard of living.

The RDB officials called upon all the residents to take good care of forests and the animals since this was another source of income to these households.

The officials promised to build primary schools to facilitate the residents send their children to nearby schools.

Bazivamo visits Rusoro resident

The minister of local government, Christopher Bazivamu yesterday visited the residents of Rusoro in Nyanza district to advise them on proper land use in as far as farming is concerned.

Bazivamo advised the residents to always first consider the type of farming that suits the soils.
