This week, Women Today joins with the rest of the Rwandan community to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The Genocide was especially harsh towards the women in our society as they were targeted for extreme brutality, rape and murder. Like the entire country, women refused to let the killers destroy them and now, eighteen years after blood ran in the streets, they are participating fully in the Rwandan miracle.
This week’s issue aims to give voice to the amazing women who have not let the horrible events of the past to dictate their futures. Included in these pages is practical advice that you can use to help those who are suffering trauma during this trying time.
Women’s Today stands in solidarity with you all as we commemorate those we lost.
