Many teens start dating because they want to mimic their favorite television characters or movie stars because dating as a teenager is portrayed as cool in these shows and films. They do not recognize the dangers dating can have on their life.

Dating often leads to premature sexual activity in teens. This is done dangerously and without protection in most cases, usually ending up in unwanted pregnancies, STD’s and HIV.

With the flood of emotions dating brings, teenagers are often left emotionally scarred. Breakups and broken hearts occur more frequently as a result of teen dating. Some are left with thoughts of suicide, depression and inadequacy. This and the many inherent dangers that come with teen dating are why parents must keep a close eye on their teenagers, and do their best to protect them.
