Fashion is about expressing who you are and being a unique individual, while at the same time being mindful of the latest trends. By using accessories, you can have an overall look that is part of a current trend, but at the same time look and feel like you are showing off some of your own style.
Francis Iraguha of ‘Francis Zahabu’ Brand is a fashion Designer, actor and model, he shares with The Sunday Times some of the must have fashion accessories every metro man needs to achieve the 2012 look
“Although today men are getting more fashion conscious, they hardly pay any attention to the accessories which are a must in this modern world. In order to look most fashionable, elegant and dashing, you are required to add some accessories to your clothing,” says Iraguha.
Below, he takes us through what he called Everyman’s ‘Must’ accessories.
Watch: Watches aren’t just for telling time anymore, they make you look sharp and add a little more class to the typical everyday outfit. A watch is an important accessory; it doesn’t matter if you are putting on jeans and a t-shirt or a sophisticated suit for a business presentation.
Tie: You may have a handful of ties hanging in your closet, but you need at least one striped tie that will become your “go-to” tie for any occasion.
Cufflinks: Give a classy touch to your suits this year wearing cufflinks. You can have cufflinks made of stones or metals such as silver etc. You can go to a meeting, and it will be discreetly hidden under your sleeve with just a piece showing. You will look sharp, you will look professional, and you will have that complete look.
Scarves: Don’t think that these scarves are a medium to save you from chill only. They are more of a means of fashion statement, these days. In 2012 using scarves in contrasting colours will be benefit your suit. For example, if you wear a black suit, try a white or bright green scarf.
Bracelets: If you are wearing a shirt with half or three-quarter sleeves, then to wear some fashion jewelry becomes a must. Go for a designer bracelet made of metals. The most suitable are thin bracelets
Belt: You don’t need a flashy belt with a buckle in the shape of an eagle to make a statement. Keep it simple. Many men belts come in three colours and can easily be paired with casual jeans or dress slacks
Wallet: The wallet is less of an accessory and more of a necessity. You don’t want to move with credit cards and coins jiggling in your pockets. Get yourself a leather wallet toady. I can’t end this list without mentioning a cool pair of sunglasses. Although a good pair do not come cheap they are certainly made to last and will remain a staple piece to any wardrobe for years to come.
