Materials: Have bottles, jars, or drinking glasses of different sizes, water and aspoon or stick.
How to make liquid melodies: There are many different sounds made from water around us. Try dropping ice cubes into a glass of water, or listen to the shower, or water drops from a loosely closed tap.
Now think of water sounds in nature; a soft rain, a hard rain, waves, a waterfall. It’s a regular music tune, isn’t it?
Speaking of tunes, there is one way to make water melodies. Gather several glass bottles, jars, or drinking glasses of different shapes and sizes. However you should always be careful when handling glass because it can break.
Put different amounts of water in them. Use a spoon or a small stick to tap the containers, and see what different sounds they make.
Can you arrange the containers from the lowest sound to the highest? Can you change the level of water in the containers to create new notes? How about making up a song to play on your water instruments?
