KAYONZA — Father Aniseti Ndazigaruye has been ordained the first catholic priest of Mukarange parish in Kayonza district.

Standing on a raised, meticulously decorated altar, Ndazigaruye was ordained by Bishop Kizito Bahujimihigo of Kibungo diocese- at a ceremony witnessed by several bishops and thousands of the catholic faithful.

Bishop Kizito urged the newly ordained priest to always pray and obey God in order to sustain his vocation.

“Pray often. It is through prayers that great things for God can be done. Be obedient to your callings at all times,” the bishop advised.

The event coincided with the Assumption Day.

Ndazigaruye recalled how he left secondary school to join the seminary to prepare for priesthood. He declared that his primary goal would be to ‘lead all souls to Christ, at whatever price.’

“I am the good shepherd for you and for all and will promote peace,” he said.

“I appeal to you, pray for me, love me, listen to me and work with me, for united we stand, divided we fall. I will not fail to raise my voice for the voiceless.”

The congregation commended the work done by the late Bishop Joseph Sibomana in 1970, of starting Mukarange Parish.

Present at the ceremony was the former Bishop of Kibungo Diocese Fredrick Rubwijanga who currently lives in Belgium.
