Inconsistent APR FC will be looking to get maximum points against bottom side Pepiniere in the national football league on Sunday afternoon  at Stade de Kigali in Nyamirambo, kick off at 3:30pm.

The defending champions APR will be looking to complete a league double over Pepiniere having won the corresponding fixture 2-0 at the same venue in December.

Pepiniere got their second win of the season after beating Etincelles 2-0 last weekend at Ruyenzi ground. Mohammud Kabura and Gilbert Mugisha scored for the relegation-threatened side.

“It has been so long without a win and I think it’s high time we turned things around because, starting with Pepiniere on Sunday, we have an extra motivation for winning because a win takes us top of the table” Mulisa told Sunday Sport.

The former Amavubi acting head coach noted that, “We expect a tough game as Pepiniere, despite their (lowly) position in the table, will come determined to frustrate us because they need points to stay in this division.”

Last weekend, Jimmy Mulisa’s team dropped points for the third time in a row, drawing 0-0 against Kirehe FC, which followed draws against Musanze and defeat to second bottom side Gicumbi FC.

They remain second in the table three points behind leaders Rayon Sports, who have two games in hand against Sunrise FC and AS Kigali.

Police FC, who shared spoils with Musanze on Friday afternoon at Kicukiro stadium, are in third place, level with APR on 40 points but the defending champions have a better goal difference.

If Rayon Sports, who have qualified for the Playoff round of the CAF Confederation Cup, win their two games in hand against AS Kigali and Sunrise FC, it would put them nine points clear at the top.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Mukura Victory Sports is in 13th place after losing 2-1 against Police FC last weekend, host seventh-placed Espoir at Huye Stadium.

Aloys Kanamugire’s in form SC Kiyovu entertain Kirehe at Stade Mumena, while ninth-placed Sunrise FC, under new head coach Andre Casa Mbungo, will be at home to Etincelles (8th) at Nyagatare ground.

Eleventh-ranked Amagaju FC will meet with Marines, who are in 14th place, in Nyamagabe while Gicumbi FC will play against title-chasing AS Kigali at Stade de Gicumbi on Monday.

On Friday, title hopefuls Police FC missed the opportunity to keep pressure on Rayon Sports after drawing 2-2 against Musanze FC.

Victory would take Innocent Seninga’s team into second place, above APR FC ahead of their game against Pepiniere.
