WORD HAS IT...

Gisa

Tough times we are in, one might say; tougher even when the situation gives you ‘sticky fingers.’ And this might just be the case with struggling artiste Gisa Cy’inganzo who was allegedly beaten for trying to steal an iPhone 5 in Biryogo, a city suburb.

The gossip mill’s latest spin is that it is not the rapper’s first time to be accused of ‘petty’ theft. It is also said that a short video went viral on the internet, showing the rapper being accused of stealing the phone.

Snoops say that the issue with the phone is ongoing but that he was asked to own up to the crime. Did he? We will keep you posted.

The artiste has been in-and-out of police custody several times over other crimes including drug abuse.

The Ben

Why did The Ben sneak out of the country?

After talk on social media with people wondering if the US-based singer had decided to stay for good, it has come to our attention that The Ben secretly left the country.

It is said that the RnB singer left the country on Wednesday night, accompanied by a few friends and the people who invited him for the concert on New Year’s Day.

When he jetted in the country, he was received at the airport by many people including fans. Why was his departure a secret? This will not go well with his fans.

The Ben has been in the country since December last year; he had come to grace the annual East African Party.

During his stay, the singer hosted private parties, secured many deals and managed to grace other music events across the country.

Word has it that the singer will perform at Fusion Auto Spa in Kampala, Uganda before leaving for the US.

He’s expected to perform alongside Uganda’s music diva Sheebah and Rwanda’s Kid Gaju.

Chameleone and wife Daniella among East Africa’s top power couples

Ugandan musician Dr Jose Chameleone and his wife Daniella Atim have been named among East Africa’s top power couples in the 2017 February issue of DRUM EA, East Africa’s premier society magazine.

According to the magazine, the couple has proved that marriage between two people in the public eye can actually work.

Chameleone has been married to Daniella for close to a decade, a period over which they have continued to prove they are deeply in love by brushing off numerous rumours of their break up.

Are Rwirangira and Kayondo teaming up?

Two-time Tusker Project Fame winner Alpha Rwirangira is said to be getting a little comfortable with Ugandan songbird Leila Kayondo.

The “Manifesto” singer, who is currently in the US on holiday, was recently spotted spending quality time with US-based Rwirangira.

In a video that emerged online, the two musicians were seen having a late night recording session while grooving away to a love ballad.

While details about their music project are still scanty, it appears they could be working on a love song together.

Perhaps a mega collabo is on the way? We will keep you posted.

Bebe Cool pulls out of Club Music Video Awards

Popular Ugandan musician Bebe Cool has pulled out of the Club Music Video Awards, one of the country’s music awards that recognise local artistes.

Award organisers released a statement saying that the singer, who had been nominated in the Viral Video and Choreography categories, was withdrawn upon his request.

This comes as no surprise as the Love You Everyday hit-maker had previously announced that he would no longer be a part of any local awards, after he was accused of using dodgy ways to win awards undeservedly.

“I have decided to officially ask all organising committees of any music competition/awards in Uganda to exclude my name from any nominations in Uganda. Let me concentrate on being appreciated beyond my borders rather than at home. I don’t sing for awards but people,” he said on his Facebook page after one local newspaper released a cartoon illustration indicating that he owns HiPipo Awards.

Ngarukiye plans home concert

Daniel Ngarukiye, commonly known for playing the Inanga, a popular traditional music instrument, is said to be making plans for a home concert.

Ngarukiye is currently based in Toulouse, France, where he does most of his music projects.

Known for songs like IrirasheNeza, Ikibungenge, and Why Did She that he dedicated to his wife Lavinia Orac, word has it that the artiste is currently busy organising for his trip back home to stage a mega concert with other artistes.

Close sources say that the singer will also launch his album dubbed Ndabakumbuye.
