The Ministry of Education and the Korean Embassy in Rwanda have signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of ‘Korea Corner’ at Kigali Public Library in Kacyiru. Amb. Park. The agreement was signed by Dr Celestin Ntivuguruzwa, the permanent secretary of Ministry of Education, and Park Yongmin, the Korean Ambassador to Rwanda. The ‘Korea Corner,’ it is hoped, will help increase accessibility of Rwandan citizens to Korean culture, by creating a cultural space within Kigali Public Library that will host a variety of materials on Korea, according to a statement. “The ‘Korea Corner’ is to house more than 500 books, 100 non-print resources (DVD and CD), personal computers and Korean traditional crafts. Rwandan citizens interested in Korean culture can have easier access to subjects such as Korean society, history and language from the various materials of the Korea Corner. They can also enjoy K-Movies and K-Pops with IT devices produced by Korean companies,” officials said in a statement. The statement noted that with the conclusion of the agreement, a new foundation will be laid for further promotion of the exchange of knowledge between Rwanda and Korea.
