Rwanda Cycling Federation has organised two-day cycling race, which will run on Sunday and Monday meant to fine-tune Team Rwanda riders for next month’s Tour du Rwanda. According to the federation’s secretary general Emmanuel Murenzi, the 250 km event will cost around Rwf5m. The competition will be among three teams—Team Akagera, Team Karisimbi and Team Muhabura that will represent the country Tour du Rwanda international race scheduled for November 16-23. Each team will comprise of five riders while the junior team that will also compete in the training race, will comprise six riders. On Sunday, riders will compete from Musanze to Muhanga, which cover a distance of 123km while the second day will run from Muhanga to Rubavu covering 126km. The winner will walk away with Rwf300,000, first runners-up will get Rwf200,000, and third position will be given Rwf150,000 while the fourth position will earn Rwf100,000. This year’s 8-day Tour du Rwanda race will start from Amahoro stadium and run through seven stages: Kigali-Kibungo, Rwamagana-Musanze, Musanze-Muhanga, Muhanga-Rubavu, and Rubavu-Nyanza and conclude in Kigali. It will attracted 16 teams from South Africa, Kenya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, Gabon, the USA (Novo Nordisk Development Team), France (Haute Savoie) and Germany (Team Bike Aid).
