Artistes spice up Rwanda Day

It was a dayof celebration and happiness but it would not be complete without music and dancing. As Rwandans and friends of Rwanda convened in Atlanta, USA, for the annual Rwanda Day graced by President Paul Kagame, several artistes had the opportunity to entertain the crowd. The day brought together local artistes based in Rwanda and abroad but it is only fair to say that the ones who came from Rwanda stole the show. Sophia Nzayisenga plays Inanga Sophia Nzayisenga, Masamba, Jules Sentore, Dian Teta and King James were able to delight the already upbeat audience with wonderful performances which matched the importance of the day. Rwanda Day attendance was impressive To complement their locally based compatriots, US-based stars Meddy Ngabo, The Ben, K8 Kavuyo, Emmy and Alpha Rwirangira also took time off to converge with the rest of Rwandans in Atlanta and did what they do best, which is to entertain. Intore Masamba and Jules Sentore in action It was a mixture of modern and traditional music but the traditional artistes clearly had a fair share of the applause as they rekindled nostalgic feelings among Rwandans living in diaspora who instantly reconnected with their culture. Another surprise of the evening was the reappearance of fashion designer Claude Ndayishimiye of Premier Model Agency who has since relocated to the US, but this time resurfaced as a member of a traditional dance troupe based in the US. King James does his thing during Rwanda Day Also among those who featured on the evening are Rwandan poets led by Angel Uwamahoro who is currently studying in the US.
