Bank of Kigali introduces an e-commerce gateway

Bank of Kigali attained an e-payment gateway from iVeri Payment Technologies, making it the first bank in Rwanda to use e-commerce merchant transactions viewed as important in evolving business environment. Bank of Kigali will deploy the iVeri payment gateway software to allow merchants in Rwanda to offer e-commerce services through their websites. Speaking during the official signing of the agreement, Lawson Naibo, the bank’s chief operating officer, noted that e-commerce was key, particularly in the tourism and entertainment industries, as modern travellers do all their bookings on the Internet. He highlighted that currently, Rwandan businesses were forced to find solutions to their Internet requirements outside of Rwanda. “We are delighted to take the lead in providing Rwanda with a gateway to the world of e-commerce and iVeri, provides a multi-channel Payment Gateway that meets our requirements as we seek to enhance our service offerings. This marks a significant move in providing innovative and convenient financial services to our customers. We are committed to harnessing the advanced capabilities of technology to improve our service to customers and the decision to invest in iVeri technology is another example of this” commented Mr. Naibo,” Naibo said at the signing of the deal between the two firm yesterday.He said the decision to invest in iVeri technology was showed the bank’s commitment to improving the business climate in Rwanda. iVeri is Africa’s market leader in card acceptance software...its multi-channel payment gateway meets our requirements to enhance service delivery.”The CEO of iVeri, Barry Coetzee, added that Bank of Kigali would gain from his company’s experience, which has software tailor-made to deliver new and enhanced customer service, while giving increased return on investment.
