Big Brother Africa is the name, The Chase is the game.
After an electrifying start to the evening, 28 of Africa’s sexiest singletons descended onto the Big Brother Live Show stage before making their way into the Rubies and Diamonds Houses.

As is custom to the Big Brother Africa show, Season 8 will be full of surprises. The first twist of the evening was for the 14 female Housemates.

The ladies were given a chance to determine which of the two Houses they would be moving into according to the male Housemate that they pick.

But the catch was that they could not see the guys’ faces they had to pick the smile that they like the most out of the smiles of the 14 male Housemates that were displayed on screen on stage.

After each female Housemate had picked the smile that she was most drawn to, the guy who the smile belongs to came out onto the stage carrying a yellow or red cloth that signified whether they would be headed to Rubies or Diamonds House.

Although the Housemates walked into the Houses as pairs they will be competing as individuals and will spend the 91 days vying for each other’s affections for the USD 300 000 prize.
Here is how the Housemates have been divided:

Pokello, Zambia
LK4, Uganda
Selly, Ghana
Bassey, Sierra Leone

Debut nominations

Just when the Housemates were starting to get acquainted, some even starting to like each other in a suspicious way, the dreaded nominations set in.

Nigeria’s Beverley was the first to nominate Housemates to be evicted. So far five are in Danger.

After an emotional rollercoaster of a day, some Housemates can definitely rest easy, while others can look forward to a horrid week, which could inadvertently be their last, in the Big Brother House.

After only 24 hours in the game, some Housemates are faced with the very real possibility of being sent packing, this early in the game.

You could cut the tension with a knife as the Housemates gathered in the lounges of both Houses, waiting for Big Brother's dreaded Nominations announcement. When Biggie finally put the Rubies out of their misery, Selly couldn't contain herself.

The Ghanaian hottie looked like someone had knocked the air out of her. She sat in stunned silence as her name was called out and then later burst into tears at the realisation that she could be headed home.

Luckily, Zimbabwe's Hakeem was on hand with encouragement and words of comfort. "It's okay sweetie. Just stay focused. It’s only a game," he said.

Bassey, on the other hand, did not let his emotions out of the bag and simply looked on as his name was called. Ruby Head of House, Bev, then went to the Diary Room where she elected to save Bassey from the Eviction gallows. In his place, she put Natasha up.

Diamonds Head of House, Feza, did not budge from her earlier Nomination decision and swiftly saved Elikem from possible Eviction. She put Ethiopia's Betty in his place instead.

And the Nominees are...

The Housemates up for possible Eviction this week are:

Rubies - Selly and Natasha

Diamonds - Denzel, Betty and Hudda

This week, Denzel, Betty, Hudda, Selly and Natasha are up for possible Eviction.

Let the chase begin
