RWANDA’s Junior Hoops team have endured a three match losing streak in the on-going Afrobasket U-18 Men’s Championship in the Mozambique capital Maputo.
After a 62-34 victory over hosts Mozambique in the opening game, the junior hoops team, making its debut appearance in the continental showpiece, lost their next three games in a row.
Nenad Amanovic’s young troops have suffered back to back defeats against Tunisia (38-43) on Friday; 33-47 against Mali on Saturday and 43-48 against Ghana on Monday.
Yesterday, Rwanda’s team lost the first quarter 07-17 but came back to win the second and third quarters 10-7 and 14-11 before losing the final quarter 12-14.
Despite the defeats, Rwanda still leads Group A with five points in four matches while Tunisia, Mali, Mozambique and Ghana are tied on second and third place with three points each in two matches.
In Group B, Egypt moved to the top of Group B after edging Morocco 65-47 to be the only team yet to suffer a defeat in the group.
