Ruterana happy with 4th spot in KCB Grand Finale
RWANDA’s top professional golfer Emmanuel Ruterana defied odds to finish fourth in this year’s KCB Grand Finale golf tournament which ended over the weekend at the par-71 Nyali Golf and Country Club.
Ruterana remained consistent over the first three days before faltering on the fourth day were he registered a poor 76 which gave him a four rounds total of 290.
He and the rest of what was a strong field found the winner Nicholas Rokoine a hard nut to crack.
Ruterana said yesterday upon his return from Mombasa, “The course, because of strong winds, was so challenging, I had to use more energy to try and win but it was not possible.”
“I am happy with the fourth place finish because this is a good achievement for me. The experience I have gained from this tournament will make me stronger for the next tournaments,” added Ruterana, who received a cash prize worth Kshs.215,000 (approx Rwf1.5m).
Muthaiga’s Rokoine recovered from a slow start to claim his maiden victory of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour grand finale.
Ruterana will now have to rest for a few weeks before heading to Kampala for Uganda Open tournament. His compatriot Jean Baptiste Hakizimana had a poor tournament, finishing in 19th position.
