Jordanian NGO trains sports administrators
Up to 18 local sports administrators, including coaches and high school sports teachers, are currently undergoing training in ‘Peace building’, ‘Sports and Peace and Advocacy’, ‘Working with Children and ‘Train the Trainers’ at Francois Xavier Hotel in Rubavu District.
The clinic, the first of its kind in the country, is sponsored by Generation for Peace, an international Non-Governmental Organization founded in 2007 by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan.
The NGO is dedicated to the innovative and sustainable use of sport for peace building and development, and currently supporting activities in 47 countries and territories worldwide.
Christian Hatuyimana, one of the officials conducting the training, said, “It (training) will help the trainees acquaint themselves with how sports can be used for sustainability and peace building and also pass on the knowledge to the athletes”.
The training started on Saturday and ends today. Basketball federation technical director Shema Maboko and Rwanda Revenue Authority women’s volleyball coach Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye are the other trainers conducting the clinic.
