‘Beautiful People’ rocks Kigali
The annual ‘Beautiful People’ party took place at Lemigo Hotel in Kimihurura, Kigali last Friday.
The DJs that included Red from Uganda and Galley of Roll Record Sound never disappointed. The dance floor was kept busy as the crowd danced to a variety of dancehall, reggae, hip-hop and R&B, among others.
“This is a real party and for sure, it has been well attended compared to last year’s; implying that Rwandans are becoming familiar with it,” said Aline Uwera, one of the attendees.
She noted: “The party is worth the much we paid as entrance fee, I am really happy and excited.
Drinks were sold at a 30 per cent discount.
The party attracted many people including the middle aged who freely interacted with the youth.
“We want to ensure that people come together irrespective of their age and nationality so that we create that togetherness since we are one. The most effective mechanism is to have fun and enjoy together,” said Reno Kabachelor, the organiser of the ‘Beautiful People’ party.
‘Beautiful People’ parties are held throughout East Africa every summer with the aim of bringing together people from across the region to celebrate achievements as well as embracing different cultures.
This year, the party was held under the theme, ‘More than just beauty’. According to the organisers, it will next be held in Burundi next month.
Since its launch in 2009, it was the second time the party had been held in Rwanda. Last year, it took place at The Manor Hotel in Nyarutarama.
