25 tour guides get professional certification
25 tour guides under their umbrella—Rwanda Drivers and Safari Guides Association, have acquired the first level of professionalism with 2 getting four star certification.
The group is part of the 30 tour guides who sat for the bronze tour guide examinations in May, after a series of training programmes that were conducted by the Tourism Chamber at the Private Sector Federation (PSF), in collaboration with Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Rwanda Tours and Travel Association (RTTA).
Six tour guides acquired 3-star, ten got 2-star while seven won a 1-star bronze certification. The Bronze level is the first in a series of internationally recognised tour guide certification. It is followed by silver, platinum and gold, which is the highest.
“With this certification, as a guide, I am confident that I can even get to another level as well as an indication of being capable of my serving my clients the best way possible,” said Paul Ruganintwali, a member of Rwanda Safari Guides Association.
The Chairman of the Tourism Chamber at the Private Sector Federation (PSF), Edwin Sabuhoro, congratulated the tour guides and urged others to borrow a leaf from their colleagues.
