Is DRC a cursed nation?
Editor,
The fighting that’s raging in the Democratic Republic of the Congo vindicates the old saying that: ‘history is our guide’. Anyone who has read the story of the late Lumumba will know clearly that DRC has followed a clear path of pillage fronted by insiders but instigated and led by outsiders.
One only has to ask; who rattled Bosco Ntaganda? To prove this, he was at peace in the DRC army before ICC insisted on his head. Soon after, the fighting started again and displaced innocent people.
What angers many people especially the ordinary Congolese who are paying the price is the fact that the government in DRC cannot manage to arrest this man. This means that Congolese people will continue to suffer.
I also recommend readers to watch the documentary called ‘Death of a Prophet”.

This opinion is misplaced and simplistic ! Just simple logic ! How many years are difference between Lumumba and Ntaganda ? Who are the outsiders are you referring to? May be you should refer to what independence is all about. It means self determination. If Congo needs international forces for the rescue then the problem is not from outside but rather from within. Why does Congo need outsiders all the time? The answer is simple: lack of leadership, vision, accountability, confidence. When the best alternative is shifting blames to others, independence of the nation exists in the vacuum !

Eugene Bahizi is right -- as per the Gikuyu proverb IGUTHUA NDONGORIA ITIKINYAGIRA NYEKI meaning that when the leading sheep/cow begins to limp (get lost) his wrong example is quickly copied (followed) by the whole herd. DR Congo has been "limping" ever since the still unresolved death of Patrice Lumumba -- with increasing frequency and violence. May the Almighty GOD invest and plant His own PEACE-MAKERS (not the usual peace-keepers) in this precious heart of our continent. Thaaai Thaaai (peace and blessings)
