Hundreds attend Rutare’s burial

GONE TOO SOON: Jonathan Rutare.
SORROW engulfed Rubavu district early this week as Jonathan Rutare, the young Rwandan basketball player who mysteriously died in Florida, U.S was laid to rest.
Relatives and family friends of the 17-year old could not hold back tears as grief stricken residents braved the scorching sun to pay their last respects to the fallen youngsterAt a young age we often organized basket ball competitions just for fun because he was very talented and encouraged each one of us to join him to play
Although the cause of Ratare’s death remains a mystery, Mitchell Ukurikiyimpfura, one of his relatives shared his childhood memories with the deceased.
“At a young age we often organised basket ball competitions just for fun because he was very talented and encouraged each one of us to join him to play,” Ukurikiyimpfura said.
Rutare is survived by both his parents, two sisters and one brother. The burial ceremony was attended by officials from the national basketball federation and the ministry of sports and culture.
