Private health service providers are optimistic that the District Health Information System (DHIS2 of sharing medical records with the Ministry of Health will help improve service delivery.

The sharing system enables dispensaries and clinics as well as the public health sector to share information with their respective districts.

“I am sure the Ministry of Health will be guiding us on how best or effective we can provide our service,” said Immacurate Kizima, an official in charge of disease prevention unit at BNR Clinic in Nyarugenge District.

She made the remarks during a four- day training aimed at building the capacity of dispensary and clinic operators to effectively use the DHIS2 soft ware.

The ongoing training is taking place at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST).

This programme will benefit 70 people operating within the three districts of Gasabo, Nyarugenge and Kicukiro.

Kigali City Vice Mayor in Charge of Social Affairs, Hope Tumukunde, said the programme will also help the government come up with policies or programmes to suit medical demands of the population.

“Many people in this city get medical treatment in private health centres. Therefore, by identifying the most common diseases suffered, the ministry will respond accordingly in terms of providing guidance on the required treatment among other measures,” Tumukunde said.
