Primus Guma Guma SuperStar 2 road show pulls smallest crowd in Nyamagabe
WHAT was supposed to be a dream show turned out to be a disappointment after the Primus Guma Guma SuperStar road show at Nyamagabe stadium failed to attractthe expected crowd.
The first on stage was Young Grace, followed by popular Hip-hop artiste Jay Polly, performing two songs, “Akanyarirajisho”, and “Umwami uganje”.
Just a few minutes later, Knowles claimed the stage and with her “Nkoraho” track, she put up a superb performance, further reinforcing her status as Rwanda’s queen of R&B.
Gerdard Sibomana, 24, a lucky guy from the crowd, who danced with Knowles during her performance of “Nkoraho”, said it was the greatest moment he has ever had.
“It was a remarkable feeling dancing with Knowles,” said Sibomana. “She is so beautiful, her skin is smooth. She dances and sings well. I will tell all my friends that I danced with Knowles”.
Then, it was time for another gig. Urban Boyz appeared on stage with their singles “Sipiriyani” and crowned the performance with their new single “Take it off”, but the crowd was still flinty.
As has become the norm during the Primus Guma Guma SuperStar road shows, revellers enjoyed petit Primus at a promotional price of Rwf500.
Another artiste who failed to raise the bar, despite the hype and great energy on stage was Riderman. He even pulled some surprising dance moves with Primus Guma Guma SuperStar’s emcee Anita Pendo to further heighten the excitement, probably in anticipation of moving the cold crowd.
Bull Dog, eased through his, Coup d’ etat, rendition and his famous, “Bye Bye Nyakatsi” and followed with “Customer care”.
In an interview, Jimmy Shema of the Just Family, told The New Times that the Nyamagabe road show was not very energetic compared to the previous road shows.
“The turn up was small and the crowd was not lively compared to the previous road shows we have done in the country,” he said.
“….but we thank those who attended for their support and we gave the best performances, as all artistes delivered great performances.”
Just Family performed “Bindimo”, “Nyorohereza” and “Amorakumutima”.
The 10 artistes competing for this year’s Primus Guma Guma SuperStar grand prize of Rwf24m; are Young Grace, Knowles, Jay Polly, Danny, King James, Bull Dog, Just Family, Urban Boyz and Dream Boyz.
Ricard Gasana, an official from Nyamagabe District, applauded the competition’s organisers Bralirwa and East African Promoters (EAP), for giving the district, an opportunity to host the road show.
“We are so grateful to host the Primus Guma Guma Superstar road show in Nyamagabe,” Said Gasana. “Nyamagabe residents had an opportunity to witness Rwanda’s top musicians perform and the energy on stage was really great.”
