NEW evidence in regard to the shooting down of the plane carrying former President Juvenal Habyarimana was last week made public by a French newspaper, Liberation.

The evidence indicates that the United Nations was in possession of documents indicating that the former Rwandan Army (ex-FAR) had Mistral missiles used to down the Falcon 50 Jet that was carrying Habyarimana over Kanombe.

A number of things come up in regard to this new development. Foremost, it ought to be noted that Rwanda commissioned investigations into the downing of the plane and a report known as the Mutsinzi Report was issued as a result.

The Mutsinzi report laid bare a number of facts in regard to the shooting down of the plane carrying Habyarimana. The report showed that the ex-FAR had been provided with the Mistral missiles used to shoot the plane and goes on to show ex-FAR was responsible for the shooting down of the plane.

Whereas the shooting down of the plane was used as the excuse to start the Genocide, it must be noted that the Genocide was planned for a long time.

This new evidence vindicates what the Mutsizi report says and should be a basis for changing the mindsets of those still with doubts, and help to conclusively  bring to an end false propaganda that has clouded the truth behind the shooting of the Habyarimana plane.
