New hospital addresses residents’ health woes
The Ministry of Health has commissioned a new hospital in Ruhango District, Southern Rwanda, as part of the wider efforts to increase access to health services.
Ruhango District Hospital was inaugurated on Monday, by the Minister of Health Dr Agnes Binagwaho.
It has a capacity of 300 beds and will serve an estimated 286,000 residents of Kinazi, Ntondwe, Mbuye and Ruhango sectors.
“The opening of this hospital should be seen in the context of Government’s commitment to extend health-care services closer to the population,” said Dr Binagwaho.
Annonciata Kambayire, the Ruhango District Executive Secretary, says residents will no longer have to walk long distances in search of health care services.
