Nordic Diaspora urged to invest home
COPENHAGEN – Rwanda’s Ambassador to the Nordic countries Venetia Sebudandi, last week, met with the Rwandan community in Denmark and urged them to uphold Rwandan values.
The meeting took place after she presented her credentials to the Queen of Denmark.
The envoy briefed the community on the country’s socio-economic progress, highlighting achievements in the areas of good governance, health, education, poverty reduction, gender equality, justice, unity and reconciliation.
She pointed out the numerous opportunities for trade and investments in Rwanda.
She challenged Rwandans in Denmark to play an active role in the development of their country and appealed to Danish businesses to invest in Rwanda.
Sebudandi also talked about Rwanda’s foreign policy and the good relations the country is enjoying with its neighbours and other African countries.
At global level, the envoy said that Rwanda will be vying for a UN Security Council seat this year. She briefed the community on the important role Rwanda is playing in global peace, especially through dispatching peacekeepers to different conflict-torn areas.
The President of Rwandan Community in Denmark, Ibrahim Hakizimpfura, urged his compatriots to work hard and participate in the development of their country.
The Rwandans present expressed appreciation for the Ambassador Sebudandi’s briefing and highlighted the importance of receiving constant updates on country’s progress and what contributions they can make to strengthen the development process.
