Over 100,000 children to benefit from GAVI
The Gavi Alliance, a global partnership dedicated to improving world health by ensuring access to immunisation in developing nations has donated 128,500 doses of the rotavirus vaccine that is administered to children for the prevention of diarrhoea.
It is the first time Rwanda is using this vaccine that is expected to significantly reduce the mortality rate of children who die as a result of diarrhoea.
Diarrhoea accounts for 19 per cent of all deaths for children under the age of five and is a major contributor to child mortality in Rwanda.
