Genocide fugitives should be extradited
Editor,
The recent transfers to Rwanda of Genocide suspects jean Bosco Uwinkindi and Leon Mugesera were a strong signal that criminals cannot go scot free, no matter how long they could attempt to beat the law.
However, several Genocide suspects are still hiding in many countries, with some actually walking free the streets of western countries. Genocide is a crime against humanity, and therefore all countries have an obligation to cooperate in apprehending the fugitives. Shielding Genocide suspects will only promote impunity.
