Buses collide in Kamonyi, scores dead and injured
An unknown number of people are either dead or injured after two buses belong to Horizon Buses and African Tours met in a head-on collision on the Kigali-Huye highway.
The accident took place in Bishenyi, Kamonyi District as the two buses, one heading to Muhanga from Kigali and another heading to Kigali from Muhanga, at 12:15 pm.
Eyewitnesses say that the Horizon bus (RAB 185U) and the African Tour bus (RAB 537U) were both over- speeding.
The dead and injured have been evacuated to Kigali Central Teaching Hospital (CHUK) and Kibagabaga Hospital.
The Police spokesperson, Supt. Theos Badege, was unable to confirm the exact numbers of causalities, but 8 people are believed to have so far passed away.
