APR have everything to play for this afternoon when they host Kenyan champions Tusker FC in the return leg of the CAF Orange Champions League first round at Amahoro Stadium.
After sharing the spoils in the first leg which was played in Nairobi a little over ten days ago, both teams fancy their chances of reaching the next round.
Even without his first choice goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli and versatile midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi, APR coach Ernie Brandts is still backing his side to reach the next round.
“We shall take the game to Tusker and try to kill it off as early as possible,” the Dutchman said.
Ramadhan Nkuzingoma is favorite to replace Ndoli in goal.
With Joseph Shikokoti back in the side after missing the first leg, Tusker Coach Sammy Omollo is confident is side can upset the army side in their backyard.
“Shikokoti is a key player for us and we are definitely a better team when he plays so we backing ourselves to upset APR,” he confidently said.
“We have prepared well and I believe the players are in the right frame of mind to finish off the job.”
Meanwhile, SC Kiyovu plays away to Simba in Dar es Salaam this afternoon well aware that a 1-0 win is enough to push them to the first round of the Orange Confederation Cup.
The green baggies came from behind to secure a vital 1-all draw in the first leg which was played at Kigali Regional Stadium two weeks ago.
