PNFL, Yesterday
Rayon Sport 1-3 Isonga
Isonga football club secured a deserved victory over six-time league champions Rayon Sport in the Primus National Football League match yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium.
Isonga composed of mainly players who played last year’s Fifa U-17 world cup in Mexico romped to a 3-1 victory leaving the blues to curse for missed opportunities.
Ruhinda Farouk who scored a brace secured the first goal on 21st minute after dribbling past a defensive pair of Iddy Nshimiyimana and Gad Niyonshuti unleashing a sharp shot past Juma Mpongo.
Nshimiyimana scored an own goal on 45th minute following a defensive blunder with goalie Mpongo to put Isonga in a clean position by half time.
The blues returned back strongly in the second half and forced Isonga to play in their own half. Their efforts paid dividends on 60th minute when Bokota Kamana converted Cedric Amissi’s set-piece to bring hope into the blues fans who had flocked the stadium in large masses.
Isonga who had missed clear opportunities to extend the lead after failed attempts from Isaac Muganza and Jacques Cyubahiro broke Rayon Sport’s hearts with a superb strike from Ruhinda on 70th minute.
Ruhinda put to use a clean pass from Eric Nsabimana overlapping past Nshimiyimana to seal the second league victory for Isonga.
Isonga has now secured tenth position with ten points while Rayon Sports remains on fifth position with 19 points.
