Kenya to host 2013 Cecafa Challenge Cup

AFTER falling short in last year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, Amavubi hope to go one step better in this year’s edition which will be held in Kisumu, Kenya.
Fifa has allocated Kshs50m (approx. Rwf343m) for the installation of an artificial turf at Kisumu stadium while Kenya’s Ministry of Sports is expected to add Kshs45m (approx. Rwf309m) according to the president of Kenya’s football federation Sam Nyamweya.
Nyamweya added that the architectural design and works by Fifa goal project consultant Cyrille Betemps is expected to start soon and should be complete by the time the tournament kicks-off in November.
Last year, Milutin Micho Sredojevic’s wasps came very close to lifting a second title only to lose out on penalties (2-3) against the Uganda Cranes.
The teams drew 2-all in normal time after a brace from Meddie Kagere.
