SIM Card registration long overdue

About 80 per cent of the SIM Cards in Kenya and Tanzania have been already registered while Uganda is set to follow suit in March, 1 this year.
It seems Rwanda and Burundi are the only countries in the region that are yet to launch the exercise.
The body responsible, Rwanda utilities and Regulatory Authorities should embark on the exercise and speed up the process since SIM Card registration will be help to check on the use of mobile phones for illegal activities, phone theft, unsolicited/hate and threat messages, among others.
