KIGALI Golf Club captain Rajan Tiwari has promised golfers a thrilling Rwanda Open, and he had every reason to be excited after Rwandair’s Rwf11.3m sponsorship package into the four-day golf tournament.

The tournament’s financial woes were put to rest yesterday after the country’s national carrier unveiled a Rwf11.3m sponsorship package for Rwanda’s premier golf event that will bring together golfers from five countries; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda.
Professionals and golfers in the main category (handicap 0-9) will play 72 holes while the other categories will play 54-holes.

“We are happy to be associated with this year’s Rwanda Open and we hope to do the same even for future editions,” the company’s head of Marketing and Corporate Communication Michael Peter Otieno said.

The tournament which tees off tomorrow has also received valuable contributions from Bralirwa through its Mutzig brand, Serena, Kigali Casino, Ernst & Young, Bourbon Coffee, Tele-10, Computer Point, Republika and Romalo Guest house.
