Seven new faces in Amavubi team

Togo  v  Rwanda

National football team coach Tucak Blanko has summoned seven new faces to the national team that will be face Togo in  Lome in an international friendly game on Wednesday, November,19.

Among them is AS Kigali’s main man Papy Gasana who has was third in the scorers charts last season. This season the impressive MVK goal getter has so far netted three goals.

Other new comers include; Goalkeeper Desire Rukundo (SC Kiyovu), Fidele Nduwimana (Electrogaz), Simon Nyamugenda (Electrogaz), Papy Nkunda (Kibuye), Yusuf Ndayishimiye (Rayon) and Yves Twajamahoro (Police).

Atraco’s striker Jean Lomami got the national nod after missing out in the second round qualifiers. 

Lomami who last featured for Amavubi team during the newly introduced African Nations Championship match against Sudan was recalled back to the national team after fruitful new season with Atraco where he has so far scored seven goals to lead the goal scoring chart.

There was no place for Rayon Sports captain Jimmy Gatete.
Rwanda is drawn alongside Algeria, Egypt and Zambia in Group C of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers while their opponents Togo are in Group A alongside Morocco, Gabon and Cameroon.

Both Rwanda and Togo sealed their places in the final phase of the qualifiers of the tournament to be held in South Africa last month.

Having failed to qualify for the last two Nations Cup finals, Rwanda must finish inside the top three in Group C to be able to reach Angola finals.

The Amavubi Stars open their campaign on March 28, 2009 at home against Algeria, travel to Zambia on June 6 before winding the first leg matches with a daunting away tie against Egypt on July 4 or 5.

Amavubi team: Goalkeepers: Eric Ndayishimiye (Atraco), Jean Claude Ndoli (APR) and Desire Rukundo (SC Kiyovu).

Defenders: Aimable Rucogoza (Rayon), Patrick Mafisango (APR), Aloua Gaseruka (APR), Arafat Serugendo (APR), Ismail Nshutinamagara (APR), Simon Nyamugenda (Electrogaz), Elias Ntaganda (APR), Robert Mugabe (Atraco) and Jean Uwacu (APR).

Midfielders: Mbuyu Twite (APR), Jean Baptista Mugiraneza (APR), Haruna Niyonzima (APR), Fidele Nduwimana (Electrogaz), Yusuf Ndayishimiye (Rayon), Yves Twajamahoro (Police), and Abdul Uwimana (Rayon).

Strikers: Bokota Labama (APR), Jean Lomami (Atraco), Papy Gasana (AS Kigali) and Papy Nkunda (Kibuye).
