Gov’t has delivered on it’s mandate- Kagame

URUGWIRO VILLAGE - With a few months to the end of his seven-year mandate, President Paul Kagame yesterday declared that what was pledged at the beginning of his term has been largely achieved. Kagame made these remarks during a monthly press conference that was held at Urugwiro Village in Kacyiru. Without going into details, Kagame said that what he promised Rwandans within his manifesto was largely accomplished and the few remaining issues were in the implementation phase. He called upon all Rwandans and concerned authorities to guarantee a peaceful and secure environment during the forthcoming Presidential elections slated for August.

Kanakuze to be buried tomorrow

KIGALI - Long serving Member of Parliament, Judith Kanakuze, who died on Sunday, will be buried tomorrow.
Her burial was confirmed by the Deputy Speaker Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo yesterday but he did not reveal further details.

MPs seek powers to interpret the law

KIGALI - Members of Parliament yesterday sought a mandate to have powers to interpret the law instead of the Supreme Court as stated in the newly proposed amendment of the constitution.

Gov’t, World Bank sign financing pacts
The Government of Rwanda today signed six agreements with the World Bank (WB) which will see the bank finance various government programs to the tune of $120.3 million. The signing ceremony for the funds, which will go mainly to the agriculture and energy sectors, took place yesterday at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.

The Senate has released a very disturbing report showing that some senior government officials are guilty of gross negligence that continues to keep thousands of Rwandans in misery. In Rusizi and Nyamasheke districts, in the Western Province, where an earthquake left thousands homeless and a devastated infrastructure in 2008, patients have been left at the mercy of nature as they huddle under a worn out tent that replaced their destroyed hospital.
